CO2 Absorption

コンテンツ

We promote CO2 absorption by forests through the conservation of company-owned forests and environmental forest plantations, thereby contributing to achieving an 80% reduction by 2050, the long-term target of the Japanese government.

We own and manage the largest area of forests (190,000 hectares) among private companies in Japan. Overseas, we have planted forests in 6 countries, and their total area is 260,000 hectares. This means that we own a total of 450,000 hectares of forests all over the world, whose area is approximately twice as large as that of Tokyo.

In these forests, we practice sustainable forest management with consideration for the environment, economy, and society. The Oji Group has continued to manage company-owned forests and forest plantations to keep them in a sound state and expand the area of forest plantations by annually spending approximately \9.0 billion. As a result, the approximately 450,000 hectares of our forests absorb approximtely 14.0 million tons of CO2 and fix approximately 100 million tons of CO2, making a significant contribution to absorbing and fixing CO2, which is regarded as a cause of global warming.
