Safety and Health Training Programs

The Safety Administration Department shows job-class-specific and job-specific safety and health training programs to be implemented by Group companies. Based on these programs, Group companies establish job-class-specific safety and health training programs that are appropriate for the conditions of each. Under the programs, Group companies provide safety and health training (including training provided by external organizations) that is appropriate for each job class and job, not to mention training prescribed in the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Job-class-specific training Heads of business establishments (heads and deputy heads), managers (managers of departments, offices, and sections, as well as newly-appointed managers), supervisors (leaders of specific operations and works, leaders of small groups and teams, and similar leaders, as well as newly appointed ones), general employees (senior employees, mid-career employees, young employees, fresh graduates, other new employees, and dispatched employees)
Job-specific training Managers and supervisors, persons who handle hazardous materials, safety and health staff, personnel assigned to different jobs, personnel whose work contents have been changed, affiliate companies, and business operators who enter the Group’s premises on a temporary basis

■Safety and health education and training

Oji Group companies not only conduct safety and health education and training in accordance with laws and regulations, but also conduct education and training by rank based on the Oji Group’s safety and health education and training system.
In addition, we provide education and guidance to resident employees of cooperating companies and temporary contractors. We are also working to disseminate safety rules and raise awareness of safety by reading daily safety operating procedures, safety regulations, detailed regulations, and prohibited items in group companies and workplaces, as well as by conducting educational and training programs using OJT.

■Section Chief Training

The safety of workers depends greatly on the leadership ability of section chiefs or similar leaders who directly supervise workers. The Occupational Safety and Health Act (Article 60) stipulates that section chief training should be provided to section chiefs, including newly appointed ones, in specific industries including the manufacturing and construction industries. In addition, concerning the reform of the worksite safety climate, which is a priority measure under the Group’s safety and health promotion plan it is stipulated that “newly-appointed managers and supervisors must undergo the training for new safety managers and section chief training.” Accordingly, section chief training and supplementary safety training (for employees in the section chief class) has been provided as new initiatives of the Oji Holdings Safety Administration Department since 2018 at worksites throughout Japan.
