The Oji Group, recognizing that safety, the environment and compliance are extremely important tasks for its management, carries out a wide range of activities under the environmental management action targets of aiming for limitless challenge to zero-environmental burden, responsible raw materials procurement and sustainable forest management.

As for aiming for zero-environmental burden in each and every operational procedure, we are working to change the way our people think and utilizing our capabilities of technology, operation and planning to completely eliminate environmental accidents and product liability accidents. At the same time, we are also striving to further reduce environmental load substances, such as water pollutants, air pollutants and waste, which occur during our product manufacturing processes.

In terms of responsible raw materials procurement, we verify the safety and legality of raw materials and ensure that only raw materials considerate of the environment and society are procured, in accordance with the “Oji Group Partnership Procurement Policy” and “Wood Raw Material Procurement Guidelines,” both of which are based closely on the “Oji Group Corporate Code of Conduct” as well as the “Oji Group Environmental Charter.”

With regards to sustainable forest management, we encourage the acquisition of forest certification as a means to ensure sustainable forest management practices seek to preserve the functions of forests and sustainably utilize forest resources. We are also working on increasing the number of eco-friendly products such as forest certified products. We will continue to work for the sustainable management of forests toward the goal of having all of our company-owned or managed forests in Japan and abroad receive some type of forest certification. In turn, we will contribute to the recovery of Japan’s forestry industry and revitalization of its forests by actively promoting lumber processing businesses.

The Oji Group is committed to ensuring its people, including management who is responsible for our operations, make contributions to the realization of a sustainable society by encouraging them to always think about the environment and proactively address global environmental issues.
