The economic environment and social structure surrounding our company continue to undergo substantial and rapid change due to advances in globalization, the adoption of ICT, and so on.
In order to achieve sustainable growth as a global company, the Oji Group is pushing forward business portfolio restructuring with one of its management strategies being the critical need to transform into an Innovative Value-Creating Company. In particular, we are making efforts toward diversity promotion with the recognition that diverse values and flexible ways of thinking are necessary for a corporation. Among our efforts, working style reform is an important mainstay and we strive to establish an environment where diverse personnel, regardless of gender, nationality, or age, can engage in free thought without being unduly swayed by common practice, while also being able to generate better ideas on an on-going basis.
In order to accelerate these initiatives, we have established a Diversity Promotion Office for the Group. Additionally, the Diversity Promotion Committee, comprised of members including the presidents of each Group company, meets as needed and follows the slogan of "change must come from the top management of each company."
As our diversity promotion policy, we have stated the objectives of: 1. Promoting working style reforms, 2. Encouraging active participation of diverse talents, and 3. Improving work-life management.
1. Promotion of Working Style Reforms
Holding the view that "a better working style forms the basis of personnel management and talent activation," we strive to improve the "quality of work" by revising traditional styles of working and reducing total annual working hours.
2. Participation of Diverse Talents
First and foremost, we are working under our policy for promoting the active participation of female personnel by trying to raise our ratio of females in management positions, which is an indicator of female employee engagement. We are giving renewed attention to assignment, training, and employment opportunities for female personnel as we actively strive to employ talented female workers.
3. Improvements in Work-life Management
With a focus on "equally emphasizing careers and child care/nursing care," "male employees participating in child care and housework," and "accommodating flexible working styles," we are putting in place a work environment conducive to performance results for both men and women, as well as the fulfillment of roles at home and in the community.
The Oji Group has traditionally enjoyed a culture and climate that brings together diverse values. While developing these to a higher level, we will boost our competitiveness in a way that strengthens diversity and flexibility, and we will continue to grow as a corporation.
We hope to enjoy your generous support and trust going forward.
