The Japan Paper Association (JPA) belongs to the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), which is one of the three major business associations in Japan. JPA promotes initiatives for the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. JPA supported Keidanren’s Commitment to a Low Carbon Society in 2010, and formulated and announced JPA’s Action Plan for Low-Carbon Society with a CO2 reduction target in 2012. Once a year, JPA announces the progress towards the achievement of the target. As a member of JPA as well as Keidanren, Oji Holdings affirms the industry target and promotes measures for mitigating climate change to achieve the target by making investments related to energy conservation, and formulating and managing the progress of an action plan for saving energy. In addition, we exchange information and provide supports for making policy recommendations as a member of committees of JPA and Keidanren on climate change such as the environment and energy.
The Oji Group supports the Act on the Rational Use of Energy and the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures, which are laws of Japan related to climate change, and submits an annual report to the government on its energy consumption, the status of the achievement of energy conservation targets, and greenhouse gas emissions.
