Base Paper for Made-in-Japan Milk Cartons
Established in 2018, the Packaging Promotion Center leverages our long-term accumulation of paper manufacturing technologies and has successfully developed a system for domestically making all of our milk cartons including the base paper for use in milk cartons.
Gable top milk cartons, available at all supermarkets and convenience stores, originated from the United States in the early 20th century. After being introduced to Japan, the cartons have become a widespread paper-based product.
In the past, the base paper for milk cartons was generally manufactured overseas. After the Oji Group gained the ability to make base paper for domestic cartons, we have become capable of building a consistent production system in Japan, encompassing the entire process from pulp to milk cartons.
An Iintegrated Manufacturing System from Pulp on through to Cartons in Japan
The entire process from the manufacture of pulp, a raw material, to paper manufacturing is handled at our mills in Japan. This facilitates sophisticated quality control and brings benefits such as cost reduction in transportation from overseas.
(2)Encompasses the Entire Production Process, from Pulp (paper manufacturing) to Cartons (processing)
The Oji Group has become capable of handling the entire process from pulp to milk cartons in Japan by making the lamination for the layer structure of milk cartons, which had been limited to overseas, practical in Japan and combining it with existing technologies for paper manufacturing.
Building a system for domestically handling the entire process from pulp to printing and processing can ensure the stable supply of made-in-Japan milk cartons that are safe to use.
Besides domestic manufacturing of cartons, we sell and maintain the machinery for filling the cartons with beverages.
Our service offers flexible solutions adapted to customers’ needs throughout our service encompassing both software (cartons) and hardware (filling machines).
