– From Waste to Worth with Molded Pulp Containers –

Oji Holdings Corporation (President: Hiroyuki Isono, Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will sponsor the Tsukuba Craft Beer Fest 2025, to be held from August 1 to 3, as an SDGs partner, together with Asahi Youus Co., Ltd. (President: Yukako Mori, Head Office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo), a group company of Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (President: Atsushi Katsuki, Head Office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo).Oji Holdings will launch a recycling initiative to process used molded pulp containers collected at the event into packaging materials for Asahi Youus products.

Asahi Youus has been actively promoting the circular economy at this event over the past several years through initiatives such as the introduction of reusable cups and the upcycling of used plastic cups. The company’s efforts to foster resource circulation in collaboration with the local community align with the Oji Group’s vision of “Dedicated to Sustainability.”

Paper containers used for food applications are often difficult to recycle due to contamination from food residues and oils, and are frequently discarded without being collected. Oji Holdings is advancing a material recycling initiative that removes contaminants and enables such containers to be repurposed into paper, building on expertise developed through paper cup recycling. At the event, a dedicated “Circular Station”* will be set up to collect used molded pulp containers, which will be recycled into packaging materials for Asahi Youus products.

The Oji Group has been creating products utilizing forest resources for over 100 years. We will continue to promote Green Innovation—the development of environmentally conscious materials and products—and remain committed to realizing a sustainable society.

  • A resource collection and learning booth set up at the venue to promote recycling awareness.
